If it was Miami it would be impressive, but below freezing temperatures aren't unusual at least in northern and central Florida. Last time I was in Orlando it was 23F and that was pretty unusual for there, though temps at or just below freezing aren't that unusual there.

Some places in Florida reach the teens even in an average year. Even Jacksonville reaches a low of 22F in an average year. See here for a list of temps for each weather station (both average and record for the period of time in the left column):

Florida has even dropped below zero, but not for over 100 years so I wouldn't worry about that happening. :mrgreen:

Enjoy it while you can. Short periods of a little below freezing is way better than the heat and humidity that last for months on end in Florida. :2thumbs:

The name was a marketing ploy to convince potential landowners that the town has never had, and never would have, a frost that could destroy the large citrus-driven economy. However, only a couple of years later, a terrible frost killed most of the citrus in Frostproof. Prior to being named Frostproof, the town was named Keystone City. However, after being confused regularly with Keystone Heights, a city in North Florida, Frostproof was coined.

In my younger days I walked the beaches of Mullet Key where Ft DeSoto is in Tampa Bay south of St Pete...in December in a swimsuit while the locals walked past me huddled up in their coats...I'd just go jump in the ocean...not too cold for me I guess. :nod:
