Dry Canyon

I headed out to go snowshoeing this afternoon and there was no snow :(.

So what would have been a snowshoeing trip report, has now turned into a geocaching trip report. My pictures aren't very good but it was a great hike and I haven't posted a TR in a while, so I thought I'd post anyway.


I headed up Dry Canyon on Timp

I wanted to hide a geocache up the canyon but I wanted to place it off the main trail so I just started hiking up the side of the mountain. I eventually found a deer trail and followed that to the top of the mountain. The top had a great view of the valley

The I hid the ammo box in a position that has a great view looking down on the trail.

Hiking straight up the mountain killed my legs, but it was really good just to be out hiking.

Regarding the lack of snow, it's a weird year for us as well. We seemed to get dumped on about a month ago and then nothing significant since. Last night while up in Aspen, it rained on us! :ne_nau: I am hoping this new storm passing through will dump off some much needed snow. I hope there's enough snow for us all to snowshoe on next weekend at Green's pond?? :nod:

Thanks for commenting Alison. It sucks when there are 40 views on your TR and no comments, so I really appreciate you commenting on at least noticing my TR :).


I too hope for snow next weekend. I just found out that my brother is hoping to move next Saturday and that could kill my winterfest plans.

Aw......I know it sucks when you get all these views to your TR but no one comments. :ne_nau: I know sometimes my TR's are just short and sweet but it's nice to know when someone has stopped by.

Well I do think it's cool that you turned a snowshoe hike into a Geocache. :2thumbs: Just getting outside is KEY to keeping sane during the cold months. :2thumbs: I STILL need to get on board with the Geocaching fun. I know my oldest would really love it and it would be fun for he and his friends to go do together. I'm seriously going to try to make this a priority before summer starts.

Regarding next upcoming weekend- Bummer if you can't make it but totally understand the obligation. Keep us all posted! The more the merrier! :five:
