The irony is that google bought youtube a while ago and stayed in competition with itself.

I was surprised that Google Video hung on this long after a couple of years from the YouTube buyout. Why run two video sites?

I guess the "hardcore" people were stubborn and really liked the google video format. But jeez, people, why can't Google Video just be a mirror of YouTube?
