I think they say "Git 'er' done" in the south? Here in Utah I think it is put something like "Got 'er' did" !

Ditto. It is certainly a proud day to be a Ute. Run the flags high, the Utes have the best football program in the state and have the biggest current football tradition in the state of Utah. The tide (pun intended) has turned. Utah's football program has officially passed its basketball program in tradition and dominance. Utah used to be a basketball school and now it is clearly a football school. No question.

This is one of the biggest sports wins in the history of the state of Utah. I think we know who has the hottest ticket in town now. I am glad that I got my season tickets when I did (02), good luck getting them now. Can you all imagine the recruiting that the Utes will get over this win and the last 5+ years of tradition that they have built. Unbelievable!!! :eek2:

Wow! I literally could not be more surprised. That was amazing. The first quarter was especially fun to watch.

I was a huge doubter as well -- along with the rest of the country. In a nationwide fan poll 90% of voters picked the Tide over the Utes.

What a sweet game! I loved all of the comments from the sportscasters.

"Alabama and it's fans are stunned...and frankly so am I!"

My boss said that the Utes would get steamrolled, and that if they beat Bama that he would wear a Utah sweatshirt around the office on Monday (he's a huge Wyoming fan, and hates the Utes). I've got his sweatshirt ready for him. :lol8:

The Utes are getting some huge pub this morning. Prime home page real estate on www.espn.com doesn't suck.

I'm curious to see how many 1st place votes the Utes get in the final AP poll.... there will be a couple for sure...

If the writers really want a playoff, they will vote Utah #1.... Though that is not going to happen, I assume the will get a share of votes.....

In the end, I am just REALLY happy about how things worked out. They are the Auburn of 2004.....

So which team is better? 2004 or 2008?

I'm going to say 2008, simply because of their resume. This is, without a doubt, the most impressive non-BCS resume every completed. If it was still 1984, we know who would be national champs.

And that hurts, coming from a Y fan. :five:

I'm going with the 2004 team.... they crushed everyone. They beat everyone by 14 points or more..... they are the only team in the history of college football to go undefeated and do that.

In 2004 games were over at halftime....

True. But who did they play that year? 2008 is probably not as talented offensively, but their defense was stout. 2004 was better offensively, no doubt. But, I still say 2008 put together a much more impressive resume.

You didn't ask who had the best resume.... to that I'd answer the 2008 team.

You asked who I considered the better team..... I assumed what you were really asking is if the 2004 team played the 2008 team who would win? And I'd bet on the 2004 team.

Agree 100%. 2004 had awesome offence & defence. 2008 has an awesome defence and a good offence.

My clincher in the deal is probably because the spread option was so new in 2004 that no one had the personnel or knowledge to defend it. That offense has redefined college football.

Recruiting has totally changed..... speed is king. For example.... players considered to small to play linebacker in 2004 were 3 star recruits.... those same guys are now 5 star if they have the speed.

It would be close but I might give 2008 the edge. The mtn west conference just had its strongest year on record. How was the conference in 2004 when they were steamrolling teams by halftime? Not to mention the 08 team just beat a better team in the Sugar bowl, but I think the 04 team would have rolled them up too.

Tough call man. :ne_nau:

My problem with this discussion is no one really knows how good the 2004 team actually was... they were never tested.
