I sadly do not have an HD monitor. I was going to win one this month at work, and then they canceled the contest a couple of days ago. I love my job but I am still bitter that they cancel a contest over 21 days into it.

Anyway, the video is super choppy for me because my monitor cannot display 720p.

So now my next goal is getting a 720p camera... a STILL camera that shoots in that format. Alex just picked one up.

I uploaded my girl singing in 720p and uploaded to youtube w/out compression and it only gave me a "watch in high quality" option. I can see a difference, but I'd like see a "watch in HD" link. How new is this option?

I then tried compressing it and then lost the 720p wide frame and it all scrunched up. What am I doing wrong?

How long ago did you upload it.

It's not immediately that I'll get the "high quality" option, it still has to process it. Maybe it takes longer for the HD option.

This might help you though:

any computer monitor should be able to display 720p.

I uploaded this one on Dec 21, 2008:

If you open it, you can see in the bottom right, just under the video pane it says "watch in high quality". But it doesn't give the option to watch in HD. Is this something you have to subscribe (or pay) for?

Very helpful link Justin....

From Youtube:

Please note, we are currently experimenting with this feature and optimizing it accordingly, so we can't guarantee that your videos will always be transcoded into this format

wow. that 720p stuff looks good! I'd have been happy if they just make the low-res stuff look better. Pretty cool. :2thumbs:
