This is a serious question, not some rubbish bin joke, so please don't turn it into one.
Now that the kids are old enough to use the computer and now that my wife watches other kids, does anyone have a suggestion for a program that will shut off any chance of opening porn. I see several available on the net, but some claim that some work and some don't so well.
Does anyone have any personal experience with any of them and can make a suggestion of which one to purchase?

My brother has used NetNanny for a long time and as far as I know it has worked for him.

On top of installing a web filter, I would really recommend using Firefox and installing adblock plus. Adblock plus has made the internet much cleaner for me because it blocks a lot of advertisements which I find dirty.

I guess the hard part about recommending Firefox, is that if your kids wanted to, they could use IE.
What OS do you use? I much prefer XP, but one of the great advantages of Vista is the parental controls. My friend switched his parents' computer to use Vista for that very reason and they have been thrilled with Vista because he has a brother who struggles with pornography and Vista has helped keep it out of their home.
My son is 9 months old, so I am a ways off from needing to use a program like this, but I'll try a couple of programs out and get back to you.

I use ZoneAlarm Internet Suite (it has content filtering built in) coupled with a program (free) called: http://www1.k9webprotection.com
ZA Suite provides antivirus, anti-phishing, firewall and some basic content filtering, K9 supplements it by allowing me to set a schedule for when my kids can be online and also provides content filtering.
The nice thing about K9 is if they attempt to access a site, the computer emits a loud dog barking sound! :naughty:

I just did tried Net Nanny and I was not at all impressed. I am still testing them out and I'll get back to you on which I prefer. I will now be sure to try Zone Alarm as well.

What OS do you use?
Vista. I'll have to read up more on the parental controls I guess.

That's funny. Anyway at this age I'm more worrying about them stubling on stuff by accident rather than doing it on purpose right now.

Both products will block access to sites you indicate. K9 justs adds the extra Bark after the page is blocked.

A highly recommended device for controlling Internet access is the iBoss. Because it is also a fully-featured router and firewall, the iBoss is operating system independent, and it can protect all computers that are used in your house.
It recently won the iParenting Media Award (http://iparentingmediaawards.com/winners/21/27938-11-148.php) (as did the software, Safe Eyes (http://www.internetsafety.com/safe-eyes-parental-control-software.php)). And if you have a friend who wants/needs one, they are currently offering a holiday special where you can buy two for $119.99.

[i]iBoss Home Internet Parental control protects kids from online threats. As an all in one parental control with a built in router, firewall, and wireless, it removes the need to purchase separate cumbersome software for each computer in the home saving time and money. One iBoss protects all the computers in a household. Since it

Since you do use Vista, its parental controls are pretty good, but if you'd like to enhance your content filtering even more, I suggest you use this free service from OpenDNS:

It offers some of the advantages of the iBoss, but when it is coupled with Vista, you'd have a pretty solid solution.
