I thought we tried this back in the 1860's?
History books say it didn't work out so well...

Well he is speaking from experience.
But one of the key components that differentiates the US and the old USSR is that we are not a recently assembled amalgamation of completely different cultures. Granted we have some cultural difference between these regions but the USSR was assembled from stand alone nations that were effectively conquered and rolled into the USSR. Some as recently as WWII.
Most of the USSR entities were simply waiting for a weak chink in the armor to force the split all along. With the economy in shambles at the time many of them took Article 72 to heart and held an election and voted themselves out of the republic.
I travel quite a bit and NEVER get the impression that any of the US states thinks it would be better off as a stand alone nation.
If anything we will have a revolution and change our form of government.
Oh thats right I forgot, Obama is going to change it.

Alaska too.
The U.S. will fracture into six parts: the Pacific coast; the South; Texas; the Atlantic coast, central states and the northern states.
So what happen's to the Mountain West.

Ah but I was in Austin all last week.
I didn't see one "Lets secede" sign anywhere.
But I had some really tasty Q.

If it comes down to a split I hope Utah will join the United Pacific States and pulls Colorado with it too, heh.

No way! PAC 10 stinks. Give'em San Deigo and we hook up with Big 12 states. Priorities man, priorities. :haha:

Its hidden in the "Don't mess with Texas" slogan. You have to be there for more than a week before you discover the plot to secede.
