View Full Version : What's the difference between an imbecile and a moron?

Went mtb'ng today. Since I haven't ridden for a couple of months and I was near sea level, my lungs hurt, but it was a good hurt.
So I go home and raise the garage. The first thing that subconsciously enters my mind is it looks like there is a lot of room in my garage. This is because my mtn bike is on the roof rack. Even noticing this, I still proceed to drive into my garage with the bike on the previously mentioned roof rack. Not a scratch on my bike or car, but a rack is ruined. Probably a 10 cent plastic part renders the entire $135 rack useless. Luckily I have (had) 2 racks. The rail bent a little too. So the verdict; Imbecile or Moron?

You are not alone on this one.

A buddy of mine drove all the way to Seattle to ride in a road race.

Checks into his hotel and proceeds to clean his $4,000 bike off the roof
when entering the underground garage.

Destroyed the bike, the rack and damaged the roof of the car.

He would never have let me know if I hadn't noticed the tell tale
damage where the rack had been mounted on his roof one day.

He's no idiot, just had a bad day.

Imbecile or Moron?
I'll second Redman's chalking it up to a "Bad Day" :haha:

Glad the bike and car are ok!

Bad day! Not an imbecile or moron.

Thanks for the nice words. Yesterday was one of those days I guess. Just had my mind on other things.

I saw a handy dandy invention at Interbike for just such an occasion...a sensor mounted to the rack & one to the house that alerts the driver of the impending DOOM to hopefully avoid ripping said rack/car/bike apart. Kinda cool - called XTRAI

See Kip... it they have invented a device to prevent such accidents you are obivously not the only person to have attempted removing the bike with the garge door. :haha: (had to poke just a little fun)

I'll go with Imbecile. A moron would have consciously known and tried to make it fit anyway, or by driving faster it would have squeezed in.

If I have something on the rack, I move my garbage can in front of the garage door when I leave, that way i have to get out and move it and it reminds me I have something up there. I have learned form my own mistake. :2thumbs:
