So I'm finishing my basement. If this is already too funny for you, please feel free to exit this thread.

My door openings are 32". Me being a door noob, I go to Lowe's, which had $49 doors on sale, and I pick up 3 32" Left Hand doors. some of you get it already...

So I bring them back, haul them down to my basement, and tweak my back in the process.

I rest for a week.

I go to put them in, and I now realize that a 32" door does not include the frame in the measurement. I am trying to fit 34" into a 32" doorway.

I haul them out, return them to Lowe's, full credit.

I proceed to pick up my 30" doors. The price just went up 17 bucks per door. Same model, but the sale ended the day I picked them up the first time.

Wait, this isn't a funny story.

You should have done an exchange/swap-out.

That's actually what I tried to do, but they wouldn't go for it for some reason. :ne_nau:

Duh - they wanted your money. :roflol:

Seriously; I think they should have given you an exchange.

Have you hung the door yet?

Beech I feel for you. Did this a few years back myself.
I had a similar experience trying to get the opening for some French doors square.

Cut the damn doors off three times and they were still too short.

...RO...means rough opening. Oh. You figured that out already.
This was the most common problem with DIY'ers that I used to deal with when I sold Peachtree Windows & Doors. Don't feel too bad though, I'm sure the store you bought them from has too...that's probably why they really didnt want them back, although a 'stock' door or window with no colateral damage sells just as easily to the next guy coming along  :ne_nau:

So I've spent a couple hours hanging my first door, wondering why there was such a huge gap on the hinge side near the top.

The door was warped.

So another exciting return experience at Lowe's today.

It's amazing, once you have the right size of door, and they're not warped, you can hang them in 15 minutes.

Repetitive physical task creates muscle memory; you were training. :2thumbs:

That is why you should buy your stuff from real suppliers, not HD or Lowes if you would have got it from Pioneer Door, Wheelright Lumber etc.. It wouldn't have been warped. I know you didn't buy your plumbing from HD/Lowes why would you buy your other stuff there???
