View Full Version : No more caffeine after this weekend

This is the weekend that I drop caffeine.

I'm a HUGE consumer of Diet Mtn Dew, and unfortunately, lately I've been slipping into the vicious cycle of Energy Drink consumption.

I figure this will be a good long weekend away from work that I can dump the habit, and also start watching my carbs again.

...of course, right AFTER thanksgiving dinner.

After this, it's back to Crystal Light. I've had back spasms the last few weeks, and I'm very convinced the aches and pains are from my recent sugar consumption. Time to get back on the wagon.

Just don't switch to artificial sweeteners. Aspartam and the likes have been proven to cause cancer :ne_nau:

Yes -- proven to cause cancer in laboratory rats force fed twice their body weight's worth of the stuff daily for over two years straight.

So, that said, just consume a little less than 360 pounds of aspartame a day and you should be good. :2thumbs:

Isn't Crystal Light 99.99% water? :lol8:

I drink Crystal Light at work. I buy powdered Crystal Light mix in a 6-tub package. I keep an empty 20oz pop bottle at my desk and fill it up with water from the office bottled water cooler. I then add about a third of a plastic spoon's worth of Crystal Light from the tub, screw the cap back on the bottle and shake well. Mixing your own like this saves you a bunch of money and the 6-tub container lasts for 2-3 months and I'm not paying for water.
Like you I have to have a bit of flavor. I've found I drink a lot more this way than just straight water. My favorite flavor is the strawberry-kiwi or orange sunrise. Taste's great- less filling!

I've found that the 1 Liter bottles work a lot better, but you still put the 20 oz of water in them. This gives you a bigger air pocket up at the top, easier to shake and mix.

I also like the big mouth opening, I find the lids go on easier too.

Then again, I'm only 99.99% of a man.

you'll feel alot better. i've been caffine free for 1 year now. free 1 year 4 days with the exseption of 2 mountain dews i've had. One for graduation, and one for my birthday.

I use to drink 3-5 mountain dews a day. about a week after I stoped all my aches and pains went away. I substituted everything for water and milk.

I would keep the Advil or Tylenol handy. Every time I have jumped off caffeine I have a constant low-level headache for a week. For me once that week is over the headaches subside and it just gets easier and easier.

Good Luck, and may the Force be with you! :vader:

Decafinated sucks, heh. If I ever have to switch to decafinated I will quit it alltogether and drink tea.

I drink unsweetened and decaffeinated iced tea :2thumbs: You get used to the taste and I'm naturally hyper, I don't need caffeine to feed it :haha: Lipton's tea isn't that bad, you just have to try a few to figure out what brand tastes the best :2thumbs:
