Ok, so what is it with people and escalators? I'm in airports quite often and I can't believe the number of people who stop at the edge of the escalator, count 4 or 5 stairs and then make a HUGE motion to plant a foot on the next stair. All the while a line is forming behind them.

It amazes me that more people don't get killed by their very own kitchen appliances.

I watched a lady fall down a set of Escalators at the old ZCMI mall, she came out of it looking like she fought a tiger, blood on both arms, both legs, a gash in her hip. It was bad.

When I was 6 yrs old, I thought it would be cool to follow the rail with my hand into the brushes underneath, once I stepped off the escalator.

Wow.

22 years later and I've still got scars on my fingers. They had to call the fire dept, but I was yanked out before they got there.

I had purple hands for a week.

Arrived at the bottom of the escalators at O'hare once just in time to see the aftermath of a tumble from the top.

Those are very tall escalators, it was not pretty.
