My modem went out on me a couple of days ago.
Coincidentally it was the same day I had sheet rock put in my basement, so I thought the phone line was damaged. You've gotta love big coincidences in your technical investigations. They make for good stories- much later in life.
So after I tried every other configuration possible, I went out and bought a new modem. (I still may return it and just rent from Qwest for a couple of bucks a month). I definitely don't need a tricked out modem for $70 from Circuit City.
That's the 3rd place I went to looking for a DSL modem, hence settling on the price.
So it's working now. Life without the internet was a life changing experience. I was beginning to think this internet thing was a fad.
