I have been introduced to canyoneering and have got the bug. I'd appreciate any info people could share on canyoneering in Arizona.

I've done a few slots in AZ and a few in Zion. I'll try to figure out how to post some photos in this thread to show what I've done so far.

I'm looking for some class 3 canyoneering closer to home to improve my skills and enjoy some new canyons. Any advice would be appreciated. If they are supposed to remain a secret, I will swear to secrecy. :)

If there are any canyoneering groups in AZ you know of, I would be interested in that as well.

Testing photos

Edit: see them below, once I figure out how to resize them...for now hold down Ctrl and use your mouse wheel to resize...

Hi nonot, welcome to Bogley.

I think you'll want to hotlink the images by using the "IMG" button.

Your code will look like this:

http://www.hikearizona.com/t2008/09/21/22870-6284_1222030200-07.jpg

And the result will be

What part of Arizona is "closer to home"? Arizona is a big state.

Anyway, here is a good source for many corners of AZ and includes many canyons:

Closer than Utah :lol8: ...I live near Phoenix, so most of Arizona is within 4 hours. Obviously there are no canyons within 50 miles so I expect to have to do some driving.

Not only is Todd's web page a good place to look but also he has written a book on Ariziona Technical Canyoneering (class 3 & 4). The book is sold by many retailers.

P.S. learn to shrink you photos. Great online tool at the top of the Dark Room thread that easily shrinks photos for posting online.

Helps if you re-size the photos to say, max 1000 x 800, so people can view them on their screen.

You need THE BOOK: http://tinyurl.com/5tgthd
