And it's better than I had expected. I drew some haouse plans for my brither-in-law and he said that he would pay me in kind instead of money so that my wife couldn't make me pay bills with the money (he's a good man). He decided that I needed a cyclocross bike and I agreed with him.

I was supposed to get the Trek XO1, but there was some confusion. They ended up ordering the XO2 and when it came, I couldn't tell him to send it back. I was able to talk my wife into letting me pay the difference and after a serious discount was given, I brought her home. I'm so excited, I can't stand it.

Here's the pics...

A bonus to anyone who remembers these things. My neighbor being the great guy that he is had this laying around and since no one has used cantilever brakes on a mountain bike since 1996, he gave it to me...

It's a beautiful bike and it's light too. According to the scale it's a bit over 17 pounds. Rode it down some dirt roads today and it flies. So much fun. The only drawback...now I'm told that I will have to wait untill next month to race it. Oh well, it's a small price to pay.

It was a very happy accident for sure. I did get a bit of a sideways look from my wife and was told that I can't go to the races with it until next month though. :ne_nau:

Nice! It's so clean but knowing 'cross races that won't last long.

I figure you're not a real mountain biker until you can ride a road bike off road. Besides, I like riding my mountain bike in the snow, it just makes things more interesting. :haha:
