Jaxx

I know, I know but that would be cheating if I told, since I have seen this item myself.

Looks like a single-cyl. gasoline engine -- one that would fire only a few times per minute as the heavy flywheels absorbed the energy. Is it a "Waterloo Boy" engine?

Correct! It is a one cylinder gasoline engine. The engines that fired occasionally are called hit-and-miss.

They were used to run a variety of implements from the turn of the century, using a flat belt.

This engine is a Woodpecker and came off a self propelled lawnmower.

Good Job Rev!

Correct! It is a one cylinder gasoline engine. The engines that fired occasionally are called hit-and-miss.

They were used to run a variety of implements from Apple Cider Presses to Wheat Grinders (i couldn't think of anything that started with a 'Z' off hand)

This engine is a Woodpecker and came off a self propelled lawnmower.

Good Job Rev!

Are you looking to restore this one? I remember as a kid watching these things run in displays at the State Fair. Wonderful engines.

Its my dad's. Yeah, he is restoring it. Along with a dozen others he has picked up over the years.

These are really fun - there isn't a key, or a start button. You start the engine by turning the flywheels. The engine fires and runs - almost literally in the palm of your hand!

I have no clue. It looks like some sort of spreader, like a rib spreader or something you would stick in a bale of hay, spread it and lift. :ne_nau:

shlingdawg
10-16-2008, 11:45 AM
It appears as if it pivots near the bottom. The two round balls on top may be handles of some kind? Or something that could prevent a rope from slipping off if tied to that part of the device.

Is it something to hand up a dead game animal for drying/skinning/gutting?

Mtnman1830

KapitanSparrow
10-16-2008, 04:49 PM
WTF is it for? i.e. how does it work?

RugerShooter
10-16-2008, 05:17 PM
You put it in the calf's nostrils, spikes outward, so when it goes to get some milk from mom the spikes jab mom's titts, and since mom don't like getting poked in the titt she will not let the calf have any food, so it will be weaned from her.

KapitanSparrow
