Yep, I'm going :2thumbs: Also, a nice article from GOAL.com

Thursday begins a new era for soccer in Utah. This will be an era of soccer played on a spectacular pitch in a dazzling new stadium. There will be no odd bounces as a result of the unpredictable turf, and no unsightly football lines.

Instead, TV cameras will catch incredible sight lines, and sweeping views of the Rockies and the Oquirrh Mountains. More importantly this will be an era of improved financial security for RSL. The two elements may be more closely linked than they at first appear.

This is the story of the brand new Rio Tinto Stadium, which will see its inaugural match on Thursday night between the New York Red Bulls and Real Salt Lake

I will never set foot into the place, the place never should have been built since it used tax$$$ to be built. It was put to a vote and voted DOWN but our wonderfull Governor said F*** all of you we are building it anyway and using tax $$$$.

rant over.

I'm just glad they can get those ugly ass soccer lines off my field at Rice-Eccles :2thumbs:

I agree. Those ridiculous yard lines were getting in a way of good soccer :2thumbs:

I wish we could have moved the ball. Open players all over the place and passes never happened, too late, or too short. They gave up way to many corners. They were inviting them to make a goal.

And shoot the ball!!! Stop trying to run circles around the defender or goalie, shoot it. A shot you don't take is a goal you'll never make.

Don't forget any sport, futball or football should be played the way God created it, on natural stuff, not plastic & cement :ne_nau:

Agreed completely. Virtually no crossing game. They played through the middle and they looked like kindergarden kids at times, just a mob kicking the ball around. Corners were 11 to 3, I think, to our disadvantage :-( I liked Finley and the the tall black player on the right wing for Red Bulls.

I watched the whole thing on TV and I never watch soccer. It just seemed so much better in a legit stadium.

Going to the game tomorrow along with two of my friends, one of them bringing his young daughter. That's 4 tickets! Doing my part to make this a success.

Tomorrow is the last game of the season played at home. If Real wins against Dallas and at the same time Colorado looses or ties with LA, we're in the playoffs. Let's hope for that to happen. :2thumbs:

Here are the highlights from Saturday's game:

Unfortunately, Colorado beat Chivaz and everything will be decided next Saturday in Colorado. Real needs at least to tie that game.
