Back in the day, there used to be great Pheasant hunting on the West side of Utah Lake and toward Eureka. Now, that area is all built up and there's nothing left.
Where's good Upland Game hunting with 60 miles of the SL Valley?
I'm tired of going after Duck, so am focused on just Goose or Pheasant.

Sorry Brute. I like eating duck/goose/pheasant but never had the pleasure to get into hunting. :ne_nau:

I went on the duck hunt opener Saturday, no geese were flying but the ducks were thick.
I have the same problem with Pheasant hunting, don't know any real good spots. I know a little swampy area just west of Faust off the old pony express road toward Vernon that has some Pheasant.
I have had a little luck calling in Geese at Ogden bay and Fish Springs refuge but no real hotspots. I'll be on the search this year too, thinking the Bear river refuge and the south end of utah lake. :ne_nau:

I intentionally missed opening day. The sky is filled with pellets and people will shoot anything that moves. I've found Farmington Bay just too dangerous on opening day.
It's too bad I can't convince some golf course owner to allow me to hunt their property for Goose. Those geese know where to hide, eh?

:haha: I'm sure if the law would allow, some golf courses would be on board.
Those darn honkers like to hang out on and around the building where I work, It drives me crazy. Then I hunt my tail off on a weekend and can't get a shot :haha:

"back in the day" we used to hunt Pheasants around Corin(sp) The local farmers had a hunting co-op. Hunters paid $5 for a permit to hunt all participating farms. We mostly walked the farms that bordered the Malad River so we could also get a few ducks.
"back in the day" was the early to mid 70's.

That coop is still out there (Just before the Bird Refuge). I wonder what the cost is to become a member.
It's been a while (5 years) since I've hunted the Bear River Bird Refuge. It's swampy and is the ONLY place I've ever been given a federal parking ticket for parking incorrectly in a swamp! :ne_nau:
