I have looked on some caving forums already; I know some of you are expert in this area so am looking for any and all advice. What are the best slave flashes in a cave environment. Must be small, durable, able to work with digital cameras, and light a variety of areas, including some moderately large rooms. I have some information but all the choices out there, strobes etc a bit overwhelming for technologically challenged me.
Also some of the info I have gotton the recommended equipment is no longer made or available. Not interested in huge money either as it will be my first foray into trying to make my cave photography something better.

Thanks in advance for help/ advice---

Here's a link to a few different types of Slave Flashes. If you click on an item, you'll have a tab for "Features".

I hope you can find what you're looking for.

Not sure what a Slave Flash is, but why not just use the head lamp that you already have to light certain areas in the cave that you'd like to photograph? Just cary one of those mini tripods so you can just drop it in you pack or a pocket and take longer exposures. You can just have your cavin partners paint your subject. If you want the glowing effect just paint it from behind.

The problem with headlamps and flashlights; they do not represent true colors in the pics. They do not represent natural light and they are more spot than that of flood. I can only imagine if one is in a cave, they want the "room" photographed and not a limited section of it. It's easy to photograph a specific item within an area, it's a little different photographing the entire area. Humidity, condensation droplets falling are things that can ruin anyone's pics. Being able to light off camera with flashes/strobes is ideal. It's sort of like taking pics in arson cases. Wet, damp, humidity, ash, no natural light, all things that effect a pic. Next to the sun, a flash is the next best thing to a detailed pic IMHO.

So, having a few flash pieces with you can light an area evenly depicting the true colors.
