A friend and I hiked up to the top of Mount Olympus on Saturday. We started off at the trail head around 8 a.m., got to the top after noon, and got back to our car around 6. A decent 10 hours with over 1 hour at the top.
The weather was beautiful. Our climb up was mostly in shade but the lower 2/3 of the mountain on our way back was in some killer sun. There were plenty of people heading up - I think about a dozen at the top together with us.
The hike was quite demanding as it is a pretty steep hill. It's very easy to overestimate your hiking capabilities and use of water, heh. In the middle of our way back we started running out of water and legs became wobbly at times. But all in all, it was a very fun trip. And the cold beer afterwards tasted just that much better :2thumbs:
