I just got pimped on my hiking buddy for tomorrow. I still plan to go and start very early. Would love some company.

Well it ended up my 7 year old and his friend wanted to go hike with me. As opposed to killing them on Box Elder we went up to Bald Mtn and did the easy 2 miles up and 2 miles down.

Was a perfect day. We passed 2 fathers & 2 sons 10 minutes into the trip. They had spent the night up top. Said we had the mountain to ourselves. We did not see another soul until we were almost back down to the bottom. There was not even a breeze the whole trip until just before the parking lot on the return. I have never had dead calm on a mountain top before. Was a crystal clear day and the boys had a great time.

I am still hoping to do Box Elder this year. Maybe in 3 weeks unless we get snow.

What a great day. It was also warm enough @ 8:00 am to just need t shirts for the climb.

Glad to hear you had a nice time after all. Do you have any photos?

NO pics :frustrated: Took the camera but not the battery. ? Could not believe it. I will mention because I hate when people dont put the following info.

Left American Fork @ 6:15 A.M.
At trailhead @ 8:00
Summit @ 9:30 ish
Trailhead @ 10:30
Back in American Fork 12:30. Stopped to get ice cream or it would have been a little after noon.
This even included a short stop @ Provo river falls.
The hike was very easy. We even got "Lost" I let my son lead @ the part where the trail goes around the face and then switches back to keep you out of the cliffs. He missed the switchback and the kept getting us more & more cliffed in till he asked for help. I was not surprised he missed it as his eyes are alot closer to the ground than mine and it was harder to see the switchback.

This was with me 36 yr old guy
Son 7 year old boy
his friend 8 year old boy

Still cannot believe what a perfect day it was. The aspen in soapstone basin were @ their very peak. It was just about as beautiful as it could be.
