Is it kayak only?

I assume so.

It should be fun to watch even if you don't kayak.

Here's some pics from the event. I didn't take any because I was having too much fun running laps. A great little run!

Wow, looks like it was running pretty good. Did they let a little extra out of Pineview Dam?

"Wrap-Up

The Mountain to Metro Kayak Race this year blew the lid off everyone's expectations, even with only a few weeks notice on the water release. Over fifty experienced whitewater kayakers from around the state and a few from Colorado showed up to take their last laps down the Ogden river while the rest of the west dried up with the autumn leaves. The race began at the Indian Trailhead, one mile up Ogden Canyon, and wound its way into the city down the Ogden River parkway to the Big Dee Sports Park. It is a grueling sixteen minute paddle that gets your adrenaline pumping from the starting whistle and leaves you gasping for air as you cross the finish line. Several kayakers got unexpected views of the streambed of the Ogden river as they capsized in the meatier of the Class IV rapids up the canyon, but everyone had a great time. The organizers recieved an overwhelmingly positive response from the competitors and spectators who felt extremely lucky to participate in an event of this magnitude and enjoy such high quality whitewater so late in the season. A huge thank you from the kayaking community goes out to the GOAL Foundation, Ogden City Recreation, The Ogden CVB, The Utah Whitewater Club, Keen Footwear, Backcountry.com, Canyon Sports and Wasatch Touring for making this spectacular event happen once again.
