A couple of people tell me they can't see our website. Can you guys click on a few pages and let me know if its working?

http://www.zionnational-park.com/

http://zionnational-park.com/

http://www.zionnational-park.com/hiking-zion-national-park.htm

http://www.zionnational-park.com/zion-national-park-canyoneering.htm

And anything else you might want to. Some say the front page works but not other pages. I see everything?

All four of those links worked for me. Clicked around random pages; everything looks right.

Edit: Now I'm sucked into your pictures I know I'm going to be there an hour or more...

EditII: I'm using the Firefox browser.

Are you using Internet Explorer too? That is what I use though and see it? This is so odd?

Seems to have something to do with the www. or not?

I tested this in IE7 and FF3 and both gave me the same result of it not working with www. in front of it.

Logan Utah- Internetl Explorer. When I google up Zion National Park web sites- about 1/2 of them I can't open.

tanya
09-19-2008, 09:27 AM
Any Zion National Park sites or just this one? I dropped from the top 3 -4 sites too in google ranking, to 2nd page. I assume because pages are not working and even the main page for some. I am uploading everything to see if that helps.

skianddive

If you reloaded your website, then that likely corrected the problems.

I just tried all 4 links and then clicked through all of the 11 links in the title bar - everything worked fine using the following combinations of operating system and browser:

Vista and FF 3.1
Vista and IE 8.0
Vista and Chrome
XP and IE 7.0
XP and FF 2.0

The www. or not sure seems to be the issue?

You guys and Win are having problems seeing the site. I wonder what is different?

Disco: I tested this in IE7 and FF3 and both gave me the same result of it not working with www. in front of it.

Bo: i also tried www. in front and it didnt work ? I think i have ie7?

Tanya, browser has nothing to do with your problem. I can't replicate the problem here, but if you guys can't pull up a site with a www. on the front that just means the DNS record is incorrect on the host.

I can pull up all sites just fine, but my DNS server updates it's cache every 3 hours. Some ISPs have their DNS servers tweaked down to 48 hours update. So if your web host changed the DNS record on your domain, it would take some time to replicate through out the internet.

Hope that made some sense.

I am posting my DNS lookup results. Looks like the www.zionnational-park.com is setup correctly as CNAME to zionnational-park.com (basically a shortcut to a dns record)

a while back i couldn't get onto my website without the www in front of it... it took me a good 2 weeks to figure this out and i had to go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

and delete all the files in that folder. after that it worked fine.

I had a problem with yahoo when I first moved there and the site would not work without the www. on the front of it at least from my computer. I got hold of their help, after I finally located their phone number, and they fixed something. This is not something I need to do right?

I check the website from a friends computer this weekend and just got an error page for the website! That is scary when that computer is just down the road from me... I am still holding my breath for it all to work for everyone!

Alex

theking, the only file you should have checked was "hosts" in that directory. It's not a good practice to delete all files in etc directory. Some of the malware put DNS resolve names in the hosts files, so you can easily edit hosts file in etc directory and fix the problem.

Tanya, your domain works fine, so if they can't access your site, my assumption would be it's their computer that's messing up. Without knowing the details on their comp, I can't tell you what's wrong.

If they are next to your house, it has nothing to do with anything. We are talking about interweb here, people standing right next to each other might have different ISPs, which are routed via completely different routes to get to the same destination.

I just get antsy when it's MINE website that is not showing up.. know what I mean?

On the other person computer just some search engine page would show up. Very odd. I have a default error page and that one did not come up at all?

yes i do, it drives me crazy when i find out that something is preventing my website from being seen.

i would also like to say that yahoo is not the best host. i have some friends that have had problems with them.

I was on Blue Domino to start with for a couple of years, then they were going out of business and sold and just deleted my websites! All 3 of them!!! --- so I decided to go with someone that would not go out of business. What I don't like about them is the code at the bottom that gives an error on my pages. What I love it that everything I do, except Bogley, is all yahoo and on one account.

They work for me. What did the email say? It's almost garaunteed to be a problem on their end. Did they specify a link, or a certain issue with it not loading?

Thanks Guys

I sent her a whole list of links from that site and she just said the links are not working. She wants to use my photos for a magazine and could not see the ones on the links I sent her, or anything on the site for that matter. She said "I can't get any of the links to open..."

skianddive
01-14-2009, 11:47 AM
All of the links worked for me, so I going to make two guesses:

1. Her work may be blocking your sites, but I doubt this is the cause.

2. Were the links that you sent very long? If so, her e-mail system may have broken them into two lines rendering them useless. You often see this occurring on the Yahoo Canyons Group.

If this is the case, re-send her your links using www.tinyurl.com (www.tinyurl.com) to create new, shorter links for your website addresses.
