I took today off and decided to head up to American Fork Canyon. In the 14 years I've lived in South Jordan, I've never been up in that particular canyon.
Based on information I've gleaned from other ATV and 4x4 sites, it seemed like it would make for a fun ride in a new environment.
Now I've ridden just about everywhere so far: the Paiute trail system, Moab, Logandale Nevada, Skyline drive, Farmington Canyon (across Skyline drive to the (B)ountiful ).
Quite honestly, It was disappointing that every trail dead-ended and I had to back track. In addition, I didn't realize it was going to be a rock crawling adventure. Almost none of the trails were smooth, but instead they were just covered in boulders.
All-in-all, I still had a good time. I got there at 0930 and headed for home around 1530. By 1500, a decent thunderstorm and severe lightning rolled in and Silver Lake was rocking with the bolts of light.
Apologies for the poor quality of the photos, they were taken with my cell phone (only 2mp)
