I came accross this this weekend and wanted to know if anybody knows anything about this it is a Gulf Oil Corp Gronning No. 1

What is a Gronning?

It's a capped off oil or gas well. Gronning is just the name of the well, there's probably a Gronning #2, etc., nearby.

As Udink says, I believe it's just the name of the well.

Same company has wells in the area named Bishop Springs. Most oil wells are just named for a nearby location. For example, this one is probably named for the Gronning Canal on the USGS map. See here (unfortuantely topozone is now part oftrails.com, but you can still have map links):
