Hear Hear!

I remember exactly where I was as what I was doing this day. The sadness and disbelief this brought to my heart.

The only other day that affected me like that was January 28, 1986. The day the space shuttle Challenger blew up.

Boy. Like everyone else, I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing for both those events, plus Columbia, JFK assassination. I wasn't born when Pearl Harbor occurred, but that had to be the worst.

May we never forget those who died and those who sacrificed themselves to help others. Watching the footage today brings it all back as if it were yesterday. It was truly something that was hard to comprehend.....watching the coverage of the first tower that was hit only to witness the second plane strike the other tower, then the Pentagon. and finally the plane that crashed in PA. It was a frightening day, well actually a few days, because we didn't know what was going to happen next.

I had gotten to work late on 9/11 and I remember walking into the building here and noticing right away that things were amiss. People weren't at their desks, so I walked around and found a bunch of folks in the kitchen huddled around a TV.

I was in shock when I heard the news! It was so surreal in a way, like watching war of the worlds...just so hard to fathom that something of this magnitude could actually happen here on US soil.

Definitely a wake up call.
And a tragic episode in history.

It was amazing too, the depth of compasion that people felt, and all the heartwrenching stories of heroism that came to light in the aftermath.

It's a tragic, beautiful, sad world we live in.
But the saddest reality of all, is that dealing with acts of war & destruction so up close and personal, is usually reserved for other people in other countries and our military personel. This was but a small taste of what those at war see on a regular basis. War sucks!

I was in the car listening to a popular radio show where the DJ's were known for their antics. I remember thinking these guys are sick to joke about something like this. It pissed me off and I turned off the radio. When I got to the gym I remember getting on the treadmill with the rest of the morning crew they were watching the TV. It was so sureal..... everything looked normal, same people, same places but something was obviously so wrong with the atmosphere in the gym.... they were in a trance. I climbed on the tread mill looked up at the screens to see the towers in flames. My god it wasn't a joke, I have never felt so sick to my stomach. At the same time everyone quit what they were doing and crowded around a smaller tv with sound. It was the eriest moment of my life! I can remember every second of that day, how it played out, who I called. The heartache knowing so many were going to die and having know idea why someone would be so cruel.

I will never forget, never forget how many lives that one day impacted!

I made the funniest joke in that thread and nobody got it.

I was so touched that they played the "Star Spangled Banner" at Buckingham Palace during the changing of the guard.

Yeah when I was over there they played, "My Country This of The". I thought that was a nice gesture to Americans.

I remember perfectly what I did on 9-11. I was loading a very large U-Haul to move from Washington to Utah. I did not want to move down here. I used to tell people my wife made me. Now I am glad I did. We have a wonderful life here. It was hiking and caching here that converted me to a true Utahan.

This morning I was up at 5 am to join in in the 7th annual 9-11 Flag rock tribute hike. As mentioned in a previous thread we had with us Damien Darcy who was an EMT at the world trade center on 9-11. Damien left tower number two just two minuets before it collapsed he told us today how he lost 45 of his closest friends that day. I think what impressed me the most was how he told us he did not come here to morn his loss but to remember his friends and all those who made this sacrifice. Damien It is pleasure to have you as one of my friends. Thanks for helping me to know how to remember the events of this day.
As a side note, KSL 5 joined us this morning and will do a spot on the 10:00 news tonight and can also be seen on the KSL website.

I had to actually fly today. I was expecting the worst. long lines, people freaking out, etc. But everyone was in a really good mood and life went normally. I think that is awesome that we don't forget yet still manage to cope with the situation. Cool stuff.

I got home late from work that morning, somewhere around 9:30 or so. I was jumping on the Net real quick to read E-mails and check a few forums before bed. Fox News on the TV in the background and just about the time I was leaving the computer I walked passed the TV and heard a plane had just hit the one of the Towers. I stepped back and started watching the live footage and was thinking, whoops, a little pilot error and the second went diving in.
