Hey, we're headed to imlay this weekend, planning to hike to the crossroads sat afternoon, bivy, and do it on sunday. Is there reliable (or recent beta on) decent (treatable, drinkable) water around the crossroads area so that we don't have to bring a ton? Thanks!

The two pools at the Alcove hold water well, and it is usually pretty clean. The upper pool is larger, but you would have to fix a rope to reach it. Given the rainy summer, I expect the water there is pretty good right now, should not be a problem, very pumpable.

Thanks Tom! That'll save us a ton of weight.

We did Imlay last Saturday (9/5) and there was water in the pools (as described in Tom's post) at the Crossroads.

Most of the water in the canyon had some debris in it, but should be OK for drinking purposes with a good pump.

In general the water in the canyon seemed to be fairly low. It was our first time doing Imlay, so we had no basis for comparison other than previous TRs and beta. The water levels in most of the holes were 3-5 feet below the high water marks or top of the potholes.
