If I hadn't already pulled the trigger on the GPS last night I certainly would have after today's ride.

I started out at the south end of the Bearclaw Poppy trail with the intention of riding up to the North end (Green Valley) Trailhead. Well little did I know there are just SO many stinking options and different routes you can take that it is REALLY easy to get off the main Bearclaw trail and get on a side route, and even off into the Stucki Springs trail. Once I had gone so far north that I was sure I was further north than the Three Fingers of Death I decided to try and head west to get back towards Bearclaw. Too bad I just ended up finding Dirt Bike tracks that were deep and hard to navigate. I eventually gave up and heading back west (walking across the terrain) to get to the other trail that I'd been on before. At least I knew it would get me back to where I came from.

So the ride back was a bit better marked and a lot more fun to ride (a lot more downhill). All in all a fun ride but could have been better. I turned what UMB reports as an 11 mile out and back ride into a 14.56 mile ride :)

Now for the pics....

They are soooo stinking cute!!! I've had a couple as pets. I love lizzards, and the horny toad is my favorite.

Thanks for the second photo!

Actually, my favorite was the skink we had for about 18 months. Oh I haven't been lizzard hunting in years! Hmmm may have to remedy that.

That's a very fun trail and I can see how you could get lost- there are tracks running every which way.

Now I'm jealous. I keep my eyes peeled on every trail for Gila Monsters. Never seen one in person and would love to come across one.
