I had a hike planned for Red Pine Lake and beyond--but we pulled into the trailhead parking lot, and just as we got out and put on our daypacks, the clouds rolled in, the wind blasted my hat off, and moments later, hail pelted our car, which we had gotten into to await the end of the storm. I told my son, Ben that we would wait for 15 minutes and see if it would clear up, but 15 minutes later, it was still coming down pretty good. I told him that if we saw blue sky by the time we got to the mouth of the canyon, we'd head back up, but no, it looked bad clear across the valley.
Now here it is, a few hours later, and it looks pretty good out there, but I'm all the way back over by the Oquirrh Mountains, where I live, and at this point I'm going to have to chalk the day up as a loss. I'm depressed, but hey, that's the way it goes sometimes. I think it would've made me feel better if it had stayed ugly all day.
