I've been slowly looking for a tent and I finally bought this one on steep and cheap.com: Sierra Designs Lightning 2-Person 3 Season Tent and Footprint Package for $141.58 plus shipping + tax came up to $160. What do you think? It's quite light weight, may not be the prettiest tent out there but who cares, heh. It's around $260 at REI with no footprint. :2thumbs:

Thanks for all your comments, heh. Besides, it's not what tent you sleep in that matters, but who you sleep with in it, heh :naughty:

There, I think now it makes more sense.

I'll move this to the hiking section. You might get better traction there.

Good looking tent in my opinion. I have been trying to get my wife into backpacking. She is hesitant. I keep buying stuff for the day she gives in. Bought a stove from rec outlet the other day its a little heavier but only $20

it's a great tent, a buddy of mine uses it. It never leaked on him and he paid around $230 on REI sale.

Yeah, I am kind of assembling gear too. Next is a sleeping bag and a big backpack, hehe. In other word, the essentials.

I think I have one very similar to this one. It's a long kind instead of square, isn't it? Mine is blue. I get it from a friend, second hand, hehe.
Very beautiful in the summer if you leave the cap off and you can see the stars from the tent...

Yep, but I don't need one that's too warm - I'm hot blooded, heh, and I get a better night of sleep when it's cold.

I own three SD tents. Absolutely bombproof. My Alpha convertible has been everywhere, withstands snow, rain, mud, whatever. Never had anything go wrong with it. My Bedoin (the family tent) has kids yanking on the zippers, horsing around in it all the time and guess what. Not one single problem.

My SD one man tent is light, easy to set up and has been all over the place. You've made an excellent choice.
