Hey DiscGo.....wish I could help. I know how frustrating computer issues are and last time something like that happened to me, I took my PC into a computer guy and paid him $50 to make it better.

:ne_nau: Beech.......where are you?

GOOD LUCK!!

Error code 0x8007007f or error code 0x8007007e
This problem frequently occurs after you upgrade a service pack. After you upgrade, there appears to be a corrupted file, a missing file, or a file mismatch.
----------------------------------

Workaround for error code 0x80070002
To work around this problem, use the appropriate method.
Reset the default security provider in Windows XP
To reset the default security provider in Windows XP, delete the relevant registry keys from the registry. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Start the computer. Press the F8 key during startup to start the computer in safe mode.
2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Delete the following registry subkeys from the registry: • HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptograph y\Providers
• HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers

4. Exit Registry Editor.
5. Restart the computer.

Reset the drive letter of the system drive
Use Registry Editor to change the drive letter of the system drive back to its original value. Edit the following registry key to change the value of the system drive:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices
For more information about how to restore the system drive letter, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

^^^ from microCrap (microsoft)

if any of the stuff above don't work then i would say put in a xp pro cd and try to Repair or Upgrade the install... but be very careful not to install a new windows or wipe the HDD clean.

i had this fear when i installed SP3 but my install installed clean.

I found the solution here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950249

Use the hidden $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder
1. Click Start, click Run, type c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuni nst.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. When the Windows XP Service Pack 3 Removal Wizard starts, click Next.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to remove Windows XP SP3.

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, I was worried I was running out of motherboard fluid, but I topped it off now and I am fine.
