View Full Version : Sky falling?

Today around 1pm, as I was pulling back into my office's parking lot, I saw a brilliant light fall from the sky rapidly (straight down, not diagonally) over what appeared to be in the Point-of-the-Mountain area (could have been further).
Anybody else see this or know anything about it? It's not on the news, so ...

But where the heck are you? Sorry if point of the mountain refers to a specific location but I'm unfamiliar with it.

I was in Taylorsville (Redwood Road) looking South toward the end of the valley (Draper/Riverton -- East side) area.

Sorry, I missed the event, considering the man had me working :-( What do you think it was?

No clue. I always thought space debris traveled somewhat sideways as it fell to earth. What I saw was falling straight down.
Originally, I thought maybe I was getting a reflection off a hang-glider, but I was just too far away for that to be the case. Then, I thought perhaps an aircraft, but it was outside the normal flight path to SLC Intl or Airport #2.
Who knows.. odd to see something fall that fast, be so bright and straight down. Maybe it was a UFO going up, instead of down! :ne_nau:

I heard Utah is supposed to be the center of UFO activity so you might be up to something. We're just so preoccupied with things we don't pay attention.

Nevada :haha: But, it's those States out there that seem to attract all the attention :haha:

Are you saying UFOs have decided that those states are the best places to find that special kind of a person capable of noticing an UFO and then reporting it to the press or uploading photos to the net?

Vindication!
I found this on another forum I frequent:

Did you loose a balloon yesterday. It WAS a rather neat balloon. It WAS probably one of the promotional balloons they fly around in stadiums since it was motorized and radio controlled.
Utah County Sheriff Search and Rescue was paged for a downed hang glider on the face of Mount Timpanogos. The reporting party said she could see a victim waving his arms for help in her spotting scope. We put up a plane and determined it was some kind of balloon and that there were no injurer people. We responded on a Rhino and a couple of bikes and got it off the mountain so that there were no further reports of a crashed aircraft.
It was quite a funny sight to see this balloon flying along over the scrub-oak tethered to the bikes and Rhino.
Ahh, ye ole weather balloon cover-up :lol8:

I think you better report it to the Utah UFO Hunters: http://www.aliendave.com/ :roflol:
