Skills Workshop TR (Training Report) 8-7-8

Taking time out from his busy schedule attending the SLC Outdoor trade Show, Rich Carlson held a Canyoneering workshop up Big Cottonwood canyon at the Dogwood Picnic area on Thursday Aug 7, 2008. With canyon leaders Jim Clery and Rick Thompson, the morning started off with knots, rappelling, locking off and self rescue. Afternoon sessions involved ascending and moving from ascending to descending. There was also a discussion about potholes and safety issues. We followed up the day with a trip to the Porcupine Grill.
It was a great day and a great learning session even with Rich

The ACA has people in Colorado who do teach these classes. Maybe not in your town but something could be arranged close I would think.
