Any interest in getting together on the evening of the 16th (August) somewhere in Salt Lake City for a BBQ? We could do a potluck at a park or somethin'. Greyhair biker (Wade) will be in town to show his scars: http://www.bogley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12679

Where?
RiverFront Park, 920 W 11200 S, South Jordan, UT: Google Street View (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=south+jordan,+utah&ie=UTF8&layer=c&cbll=40.551918,-111.916715&panoid=mJCeIP6wkYkq907E2lj-XA&cbp=1,71.92171267640103,,0,0.13817749614694905&ll=40.554831,-111.913326&spn=0.011363,0.025148&z=16)
The smaller pavilions (where we will be) are just North of the big pavilion that you see on the east side of the road. You can see the green roof (center of screen) of the pavilion behind the white building. It is right across the street from a Life Time Fitness (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=south+jordan,+utah&ie=UTF8&layer=c&cbll=40.551733,-111.916739&panoid=QM9oxNX1VSFWS1walnNh5Q&cbp=2,241.51589924827675,,0,1.1440718072889569&ll=40.557431,-111.915772&spn=0.011363,0.033302&z=16).

I can be there ;-) But I'm no grilling expert so how about I bring a salad or summer soup or something stronger :naughty: What is the penalty for getting caught drinking in a public park in Utah? How many years? Heh.

I would have interest if its in the afternoon when it's not so hot.
And I am quite the BBQ Expert. We'd be good-to-go on any steak-related meat and I wouldn't mind tending the grill (with some relief for cold drink breaks!).
I'd bring the wife and have the kids stay at home! We're ready for an adult activity (sans kids) anyway!

Wherever. My original thought was to get a pavilion near 10600 south along the Jordan River Parkway. Lotza space but up the canyon with a campfire would be cool too and cooler. :haha:

Yea well it wouldn't be my first time to salute one too many times. HEHEH!!! Next morning, no problem.......pop a few Ibuprofen, drink a gatorade and take a multivitamin, then I'm ready for round two. HAHA! (no not really)
I think Acca has a great plan in the works. A nice cool place along a river on a Saturday afternoon to have a camp fire, etc... would be wonderful. And if Brute wants to man the pit, even better. HEHE!! We'll keep him refreshed with cold beverages and bloody red meat. :2thumbs:

I would be down for sure....I can't cook, but I can gather the best beer in Utah for everyone to enjoy....That includes Uinta, Squatters, Wasatch, and others like Rouge brew. In the case of Rouge brew it's kind of pricey, so you really gotta like Dead Guy Ale if you're going to drink it, but you really gotta like the Nut Brown Ale.....!!!

The Jordan River idea is a good one, hadnt thought of that, especially if there is a good number of people. It MIGHT cool off some by then. haha. The pavillion would provide shade.
Would we be allowed to drink there? (what are the regulations?)

you mean to tell me there is a remote chance that I could actually MEET the resident beauties of Bogley? in person?! :haha:
I didn't know there were 'drinking regulations' for parks. I'm bringing stuff to drink ( diet coke or mtn dew) and BBQ fixins...don't know what yet, but I am THERE - wherever there is :2thumbs:

So...any new developments?
I could make a mid-afternoon get together. Any chance of picking up a Bogley tee shirt while there?
So are you thinking something like bring your own meat/drinks and bring a side dish to share?

thats the impression I was getting. And the T-shirt idea is good too.
Wish I could attend, I will be floating Green River :2thumbs:
Back to the roots of this thread:
Where? Jordan River Parkway sounds fine. Is that decided?
Who? I may bring a date, don't scare her.
What? BYO meat & booze. I will also bring a big bowl of potato(E) salad to share.
When? I will have to leave for the airport by about 7:pm so can we make this for 4 or 5 o'clock?
Etc? Who is bringing a grill, gas or briquet? Should I bring some?
Someone nail it down and I will be there (airport schedule dependent).
(Tee shirts!)

08-05-2008, 03:32 PM
How about 5-7 (or whenever people leave). I can grab a pavilion and figure out how to schedule it. It would be 5 minutes off the 1-15/10600 south exit in South Jordan. I will check on the BBQ situation, we may just need to bring briquet's. Bring yer own meat and one side would be cool or I am open to whatever. I could prolly get some shirts from beech to bring. He'll have to give me the sizes that you've ordered.
What is everyone bringing?
Who is in? :getiton:
One of these months I have to fly out there and make one of these, leave my carbon footprint across the US and back :haha:

Sounds good to me. I have a gas grill I will bring but it is different than most grills http://www.hollandgrill.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/support.cookingTips/cat_id/11/index.htm , great for ribs, chicken, roasts etc... not as good for steaks or hamburgers but still ok, i'll be happy to bring it for anyone that doesn't want to deal with charcoal.
I think I'll bring some baked beans for the potluck.

I could not get a big pavilion reserved. They are really busy this time of year and I think they are also much bigger then we need anyway. There are some first come first serve smaller pavilions that I have in mind. Two of them are right next to each other and I could even bring my canopy with another table and chairs if needed. They have BBQ units as well, so we are all set if we bring briquet's. Sounds like a few others might have BBQ units too. Check the first post and let us know if you want your name added: http://www.bogley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=125622#125622 :five:
