Very bad break on the left arm, both bones, compound fracture. On the other elbow, a large gash. And a busted up mouth.

greyhair biker is now at the University Hospital for surgery, they will put plates and screws in the arm to hold the bones together while they heal. Should have more details by morning but so far it's going well.

Yep. I think it was just a freak accident. Not a difficult section of trail, it just happened. Wade of course is a very experienced rider. It can happen to anyone. The same thing happened with my crash last year when I broke my wrist. Sucks.

Isn't that how it always goes. It's not the 12' verticle off the cliff or the massive air off the roller. Nope, it's the "tipping over cuz I couldn't get unclipped" type spill that does it to you.

Or the "trying to ride a wheelie to impress the ladiez". That does it too. :bootyshake: :bootyshake:

Sucks that this happened during April, May or June though. Why can't it happen in October? :frustrated:

Sorry man.

Yeah, I've got the pics with me.. just waiting.

I'll start another thread with them though... warnings of graphic material.

Just to let you know, his bones weren't sticking out or anything, there's just a lot of blood.

So, we're waiting for them about 1/4 mile down the trail, I decide to ride up and see what's happening. I saw kirk on the phone, and I'm thinking, get off the phone dude, let's ride. Then I see Wade laying on the trail. hell.

Now let me start by saying... Good for you son! It's always good to see young people taking an interest in danger. Now a lot of people are going to be telling you you're crazy, and maybe they're right. But the fact of the matter is: Bones heal. Chicks dig scars. And the United States of America has the best doctor-to-daredevil ratio in the world!

Was the reason Wade went over the handlebars due to some boobytrap?!??! Just far enough past the "No Trespassing" sign to warrant some vigilante justice by a P.O.'d property owner? :ne_nau:

What kind of pain killers they got you on? You know "they" say don't mix alcohol and pain meds. :nono:

Hi Wade,

I am so sorry all that body armour you wear did not keep you in one piece. I know the pain you are going through right now has to be frustrating.... not able to do much of anything.... having to rely on others to help you do things... it's the worse for someone so strong and capable.

Try and take it easy and do what you need to do so you heal quicker.

best wishes in your recovery dude....sucks to be out for a while

I keep telling my riding buddies it's a matter of odds...... with as much riding as we do, and how fast we go down trails, sooner or later someone is going to get hurt badly.
So far for me, broken ribs last May and f'd up wrist last August. There's bound to be worse to come. But it's sure as hell worth it all!!!!
