hi, i'm looking for a new bike... a good one.

i weigh 235 right now... lost 15 lbs in 5 months just from not drinking any pop. my goal is 200 but back on point. i'm 5'10" and i need a bike that works with me. i have a knee problem and i don't want a bike thats too hard on it. so i guess im looking for a 27 speed. my price range is no more that $500.

i guess for my weight and price range a hardtail would work best for me. so i was woundering if some of you experience MTBers can point out some good bikes.

Thanks,
Dave.

I'd check out ksl.com - a good starting place to look but you are already limited by the price I'm afraid. Most name brand bikes' entry level bikes can start AT 500...
Raleigh, Trek and Giant might be in the range...gotta go to the bikeshops to get your idea of a fit.

are you near or in the St.George area? There is a good bike shop there on the same street as the college heading west from the college, north side of the street ...the name escapes me but they are probably the best one to go and talk to about bikes.

Bicycles Unlimited sounds right. They had a BIG selection of area topographic maps last time I was there, and a knowledgable staff. Good Luck!
