MMMMMMMMMMMMhmmmmmmmmmm..........I got a roll with shrimp, smoked salmon, avocado, cucumbers and the usual wrap with the little caviar thingys........I also ordered some vegetable fried rice. Nothing TOO exciting. And as far as sushi is concerned, I prefer rolls. I'm with Tanya on the liking it to be cooked idea. I can't do the Sashimi or the raw tuna in the rolls. I do crave it though with lotsa wasabi and ginger...........YUMMY! :2thumbs: Let me know what you end up with later tonight!! It's so healthy too.

I might very well end up with home made pizza, hehe. The sushi place I want to try is across town and I don't think I'm going to go out of my way, heh.

I remember the place I used to go to had this delicious japanese noodle soup with pieces of raw carrot, cucumber, broccoli, and the noodles were big but soft like silk - best lunch in winter time NY.

Best time to go is Sat when Spazmaticks are playing or when Metal Gods play  (i think on Thursday night) Or Royal Bliss!!! They played Friday night and I didn't know about it. :cry1:

Just say when and I will be there.

So the tuition thing, I have already been thinking about that one. Got a job a university kids get 50% tuition. Now I just have to cover the other half!! By god they are going if I have to drag them kicking and screaming. Actually I am brain washing them everytime we go to a fastfood joint, I point out the benefits of a college education over minimum wage jobs.

Do you ever go BC skiing above Sherwood Hills? Just wondering. My brother-in-law and I started tele skiing this last winter and we would go up above there and ski down the chutes above Sherwood Hills. No I haven't. I've never done any back country skiing. My wife is pretty good about letting me do pretty much what I want when I want but that's one thing she says no way in hell. I sure would like to though. There are a couple of real sweet bowls that I can see right out my front door. I eyeball them all the time. Watching Pink Panther. Smelling smoke from the outside, heh.

I'm smelling smoke as well and now I can see the fire as it's moving along the ridge line. It's mostly out of the Draper area of Corner Canyon now, and I can stand on my deck and see it snaking along the mountainside heading north. The wind is still kicking up pretty good as well. Every few minutes you can see a giant burst of flames go up. I am counting approximately 5 areas - 4 small and 1 lrg still burning. It's only been since late evening that you could see the fire from my home. It smells of smoke even inside the house right now.

Blueeyes ;-) What time are we heading out? That's so generous of you to be a designated driver :2thumbs:

A potato babka is made of ground potatoes, sort of like potato pancakes, plus bacon and onion, baked in an oven. It's much more delicious than potato pancakes or latkas. It's a regional dish of northeastern Poland, parts of Lithuania and Belarus I imagine also, and Kosher cuisine as well, except they don't use bacon ;-)

Watching Direct TV Channel 361 which is currently carrying the local NBC affiliate (WDSU Channel 6) for New Orleans - so it's the latest and best news regarding Hurricane Gustav. I'm hoping to see Gustav veer more towards the west - not that you want anyone to get hit, but New Orleans is still WAY too vulnerable. At least the winds have gone from 150 mph down to 115 mph. No matter what, there's a lot of people from MS to TX that are going to get a lot of wind and rain in the next couple of days.

Anyone see the movie Things We Lost in the Fire? It starred David Duchuvny, Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro. Stupid to rent something like that alone at home on a holiday weekend, but I love Halle and Del Toro... I remember the last time I cried watching a movie. It was when Ben Kingsley, playing a grieving father in House of Sand and Fog, cried out I want only my son over and over and over.
Halle Barre is one hell of a good actress. In Things We Lost... she plays a woman grieving the loss of her husband, there is a great scene were she finally comes to terms with that loss...

I hope Josh & Cody don't pay attention to this thread.

We got in late last night, earlier than we wanted from SLC (weren't supposed to leave until today). Had a great time with our friends. But now it's back to the grind. Hubby all ready up and gone to visit a job site this morning. Laundry and coffee's cranking. And the heavens are about to DUMP rain any minute. So much for a Labor Day BBQ? I am sitting here reflecting back on my weekend and this is what I have to say:
I LOVE SLC. I had the BEST time. It was so easy for me to venture out and get around because of the "Battleship" style street numbering. The downtown Farmers Market was one of the BEST I've been too and of course, I spent WAY TOO MUCH money on arts and crafts. We took the kids to a fabulous community pool, kids and dads went skateboarding and went bike riding to a local park. I loved the area our friends lived in as it was very, very eclectic with a variety of ethnicity and cultural happenings. I'm going to say this, but I think I could almost live there?! :ne_nau: :lol8:

My evening.
I started drinking while makinng dinner and have yet to stop.
I mixed queso chip dip together with a can of chilli, fresh chopped peppers (thanks Josh) and about a tablespoon of texas pete hot sauce for the perfect cheesy dipping sauce. That and hint of lime chips comprised my dnner. Washed down with wasatch hefe.
For desert I thought dipping oreo cookies in bailies irish creme might be good, but it really wasnt and now I wish I would have gone for a run before drinking.
While eating all this I just watch 12 straight episodes of Weeds. The entire 2nd season in one sitting. Awesome. And kinda lame (of me, the show is still awesome I just shouldnt have watched all that in one sittting so I'm a bit lame)

Good Morning all,
It's 9/4/08 at 6:50. Up at 3:30 a.m. ready to start a new day. Still can't wait until Saturday morning--to sleep in to at least 5:00. Prescott for a new pellet stove for our 6 degree winter mornings. Bike ride on Sunday, it will be nice to get outside again.

Have a good day!!!

Got back from New York last night at 10:30 p.m. The flight was scheduled to be 5h 30 minutes but in the end it was only 4h 40 minutes, which was very good news. It was a real hoot doing an hour long presentation along with Tanya for the Color Country Photography Club, Outback Hiking Club, and general public this evening. Our "photo and narrative" took about an hour and focused on "Slot Canyons", "Rescue" and "Other Season Hiking". They loved Tanyas and my photos and narrative! We even got invited back! :2thumbs: Thanks Tanya! It was really fun!
