Well, after 4 days of training, I'm now officially Wilderness First Aid (Advanced Level), CPR (adult, child, infant) and AED certified.

There were about 8 people in this class (first class as far as I know). Were any of the Bogley members in attendance (other than me)?

Not a bad course, more of a refresher on most topics (for me), and as I understand it, the course is required for some Search and Rescue functions.

Where did you take this class and what was the cost... is it open to the public...

It was taken at the Utah Safety Council training center (1700South and about 1500 West).

Cost was $200 for USC members and $250 for non-members. It is open to the public.

You are certified for an AED in a Wilderness First Aid course?

I don't know anyone who packs one of them along. Sounds like an extra bonus!

The definition of "wilderness" was expanded to include rural areas, campgrounds, etc.. where a portable AED may be accessible. It was noted that CPR comes first, then an AED could be considered afterwards.

I was taught if there is an AED accessible, do CPR until you can get the AED set up. It will not work if it detects a heartbeat.
