Were you cold much on this trip? I see you had a wet suit which must have helped some. I went down westwater in June and it was very nice, but April still sounds a bit cold.

Wetsuits are for when/if you fall in. The water is 48 degrees, the hypothermia would set in less than a minute. Wetsuit buys you time to function fast enough to get our of the water.

We had a couple of guys in our group in dry suits.

I totally get the difference between wet and dry suits (I am scuba certified). When we did West Water I think we pulled out too late, because we pulled out in Moab instead of that first pull out, but we floated in the water a lot of the way (except the rapids) and it took us two nights in the canyon.

I went riverrafting last year in Denali, and everyone has to wear drysuits in this river. At one point we got out and floated in the river in our drysuits. It was crazy to feel the freezing cold water and still be floating on top of a river and being dry.

Disc, if you took out in Moab and spent two nights on the river, I assume you did Moab Daily, not Westwater. Westwater is a permitted canyon and you take out at Cisco Landing from it. If you did Westwater and floated all the way down to Moab, I'd assume it would take you at least 3-4 nights, especially in late summer time when the flow is low.

Daily section has a few small rapids, but mostly a mellow float. It doesn't require a permit, so it's easy to just jump in the boat and go for it.
