I saw Bo's topic from the beginning of the month 4/5.

Wondering if anyone knows up to date stuff? Buddy of mine and I are itching to get out canyoning. Neither of us have ever done this canyon. Am I stupid if I take a shorty wetsuit this early, he'll have a full? We are both former college athletes so we can move pretty fast; I'll dry-bag a change of warm cloths just in case too.

Thanks in advance.

Not doing das boot right? If it's really cold you can bypass every single swim except for keyhole falls. And that wont go over your waist. Just use a little climbing skill and you'll be fine.

:2thumbs:

Edit: The one over the "bowling ball" area is the trickiest to find, just go back upstream about 50 feet and climb on the rock on the south side. Then walk along the rock/shelf past the whole pool area and you'll see 2 nice bolts in the wall, you can downclimb if you want it's only about 15 feet. Watch out though the rocks are probably really slippery.

If you're going das boot though, you'll die.

No Das Boot. Save that for later, and a fuller wetsut.

A shorty will do just fine. Why bypass the swimming? I believe this is all part of the subway!? James from DC did it without a wetsuit or drysuit. I don't reccomend this, but rather say.....relax and enjoy the canyon. It would be fun to try to avoid all the swimming if thats your thing, but I always believed it to be fun to stay in the watercourse! The water ought to be flowing pretty good now? Cold? yes! Go have fun and be sure to swim under the sunken bridge!
