I got a 10.5 2.8 fisheye lens that is my new favorite walk around lens. This thread will be dedicated to it, Im seeing the world in a whole new way.....

Nice. That 10.5 is just about 16mm effective on the 1.5X sensor, as Im sure your aware. Im learning to compose better to get the desired effect, she can be a bear sometimes to tame.

Since I don't shoot film any more, I sold that 16mm, and Abby and I have toyed with getting the 10.5mm for a while now. It's not an essential tool in my box, but it sure would be fun to have again. It gets you views that are completely impossible with any other glass.

I have a buddy in Boston who bought one a few years back and "straightens" the curves out in Nikon Capture so it gives the look of an ultra-ultra-wide rectilinear.

For black-and-whites with that lens, I generally used the deep orange drop-in filter that came with the 16 - it gave me those classic dramatic skies. Man that was a great trip...

Those are nice shots. Im really loving that 10.5 lens and I have played the files a few times in Capture software(has a built in fisheye corrector that is based off this lens) and it also gives some crazy effects. The only thing I dont like is near the corners it "smears" the data as it stretches it.

Here are some fun shots I got yesterday. I like Image trends Hemi sphere software to make some suble corrections, it is non rectiliner and is "more true" IMHO.

These two have no correction done to the fish eye

these two have been processed with the image trends software. You can see some straighten in the edges and it "pushes" the forground back a hair...

Thanks Carpey. I really love that 10.5 fish, its my walk around lens. It does create some metering and exposure issues due to how wide it is.
I did do some photomatix right from RAW then as a tiff imported to CS2 and then played with Lucis Art. I like how 2 of them looked soft and the other 2 were harder lines and cartoonish. Also 2 of them were hit with image trends hemi sphere fisheye corrector. It is non rectiliner and you dont lose the edges or incure any of the smear or reverse distortion.

I almost forgot to ask, are you in Fairbanks for good? The last great frontier....
