Hit it with a Forerunner going 70mph. It does the job really good. I found this out late last Thursday night while driving south out of Hanksville on U-24.

It will also total out your vehicle...FYI.

Pics coming soon.

I'm sorry... as long as you are okay, it's not that bad though! :2thumbs:

Seatbelts and airbags work very well together. Both me and the driver walked away without the slightest scratch! :2thumbs: After getting things squared away with the UHP and the insurance company, we were doing slot canyons in the north wash.

I had a friend do that to her car while driving to Hanksville also! Came close to totaling her car but the worst part was that she had to pay the rancher $3000 for the cow that she hit!!! Crazy!

Glad you're both OK!

My wife once hit a moose with our (new at the time) Honda CRX. Fortunately, the moose was already dead on the (dark) highway, and she just hit a glancing blow. Kind of jumped the moose. Did a bunch of damage to the front end of the car (repairable), but could have been much, much worse.

Those damn Range Cattle :haha: Glad to hear you're OK, you're lucky.

I just read in the paper back here today, we have 48 deer vs. vehicle hits a day here. :eek2: I have two under my belt this year already :haha:

It sounds like you need some population control on deer.

That's exactly what the article was about. 18,000 vehicles a year and Lyme Disease on the rise. I'll post the article, it's always interesting in the views on what should be done. :haha: Look for Well, Bambi's Cousins Are All Here Now. What Now?

How about not replacing their traditional winter grazing areas with entire neighborhoods? Although I'm sure they're not as serious as those occuring at freeway speeds, I'll bet a reasonable percentage of these accidents are occuring in urbanized areas up on the benches.

I'm glad to hear you're all OK. One of the guys I used to ride mountain bikes with, Alan Carlisle, rolled his minivan after a similar encounter with an escaped bovine in about the same location about two years ago and left his wife and five (I think) kids to carry on without him.

:cry1:

A lot of us took it pretty hard.

You've never been to Connecticut, have you :lol8: It's just about all filled up with residential areas. It's unbelievable what open land goes for around here and wealthy builders will buy up remaining farm lands and subdivide it. You could have easily see an acre go for $350,000.00 around here. Some places you can get to a half a mil and not too much for under $275,000.00 Outrageous, I'm talking just land, no home. The slowing of the housing market has made an impact on that pricing, but they're still getting crazy money for such a little parcel.

So.... did the cow get out of a fence, or was this in an open grazing area?

It's all posted as open range--technically they could get the bill for the value of the cow :ahhh: now that would be adding insult to injury.

Yup, Mike's insurance company is being billed for the value of the cow -- roughly $1500 is what the UHP quoted.
