That's in Downtown Provo, isn't it?

If not, there is one right by the old county courthouse.

Really cool tree.

Its near Charleston South Carolina. When you visit Charleston people will say "Have you seen the Tree?" Its a tourist destination.

Its supposedly the oldest living thing east of the Rockies. 1500+ years.

how can they accurately gauge the age without cutting it down and count the rings? I'm no arborist but I did go to horticulture in high school :roflol:

Phewww, board feet, wow what a blast from the past. :haha: Look at the dollar value to wood that old. Would that be considered 1st generation? The violin makers, antique builders... Wow, they pay top dollar for old recycled wood from houses built in the 15, 16, 1700's. That

They cab take a core sample, and date it off of that. It does not harm the tree.

I'm going to Charleston soon, will try to check it out. My home town has a tree called "Treaty Oak", where the Indians and early settlers signed treaties. As a kid, I played on the branches bent low to the ground. It was said to be hundreds of years old. They finally took a core and found it was less than 200 years old.
