Do the math, it is still cheaper to drive a diesel:
Cost to drive a gas VW Jetta 1000 miles: $120 (29mpg @ $3.49)
Cost to drive a diesel VW Jetta 1000 miles: $97 (44mpg @ $4.29)

I saw $4 diesel in SLC today, I topped off with some B40 for $3.79 last week, most I have ever paid for a gallon... I don't know why its so high, is there a diesel fuel crunch right now? I thought prices would go down with warmer temps... *shrug*

My motor home may be the worst of both...uses diesel and gets only 8 mpg. On the other hand, I can drive from FL to UT and back for the price of two airline tickets, and then have an inexpensive place to stay for several months. My complaint is this: When I bought the diesel motor home, diesel fuel was historically much less expensive than regular. Somewhere along the way, it passed the price of all gasoline grades. I don't know why.

Here is a thought for you Diesel folks.

Converting my Ford F250 will cost $2700 to run SVO.
Thats 629 gallons at $4.29 per.

I burn about 2,000 gals year. Thats $8,580 if I ran Diesel.

Seems like a good ROI.

Now it looks like a better idea than my bioD operation.
At .81 gal for BioD I still have a yearly cost of $1620.

If I can sell my Biod setup for $1000 its a wash.

That won't go away completely, I'd expect to still have
about $500 year in Fuel costs. But I save $8,000 yr.
I can lug a lot o grease for $8K.

I could buy myself a new gas guzzling ATV with the savings.

BTW, Diesel is $4.25 in southern Utah this morning.
