We have them here too  Just not in the numbers you guys have them out there in one area. This is one of two that took up residence in a heavy residential area. Not 50 yards from a few back porches their 5'+ plus feet in diameter nest is nestled about 70' off the ground. Their river access is about 1/4 from their nest.
Do you guys have a bunch of nests out there? I read that their roosting sites are different from their nesting sites. They say their nesting sites are for breeding which is typically done in Spring and Summer. Roosting is for sleeping and a Perching site is for during the day when it's not flying or feeding. I'm thinking that this site I found this pair at, with the nest, must be residential. That they call this area home and won't be flying north soon :ne_nau: Ahh, it's gonna be hard to tell once the leaves fill in.
These shots were taken from a street, through glass by my girlfriend. I convinced here sometime back to always carry her camera with her :2thumbs: Because you never know  The Dish satellite shows just how close they are nesting to people. They're not supposed to like us this close.
