Was wondering if anyone knew what the exit on North Fork of Robbers Roost might be like this time of year. Wet, icy, impassable? Also heard about some bail point just after the second rap. Any beta on that would be nice too. Thanks.

Which exit? The crack?
Reports were that two weeks ago the exit out of mindbender was snowed over. The crack is south facing though, so chances are better that there is no snow. I'd only be concerned about the first mildly exposed moves into the crack.

If it is the one I'm thinking of, it is a nice trail in/out of the canyon. Do not know the conditions though, sorry.

The crux move in the Crack Exit sees a lot of sunshine so I'm guessing not a problem unless we recieve more snow. I would carry the maps and waypoints so you could use the White Roost Exit in case of emergency. It would be a long walk but you can always get out using the old horse trail white roost exit.
The mid-exit of which you speak would miss 1/2 the best stuff. It's easy to locate. I don't know anyone who has actually used it so I can't say if it actually goes.
Here is the crux move using the Exit Crack. I don't know your skills but I'm guessing a strong team could get up it in most conditions.

Here's a map of where the other exit I think you are referencing is, before the committing rappels. The yellow dot is the 3rd rap, IIRC. Two possible exits after the technical section, one called the crack, the other is the partner assist route. The crack is the first slot entering on the right looking down canyon, goes at maybe 5.7 or 5.6?. I hate exposure, it had me a little psyched when I did it. Very fun exit though. Maybe 10 or 15 feet of exposure. I did it in 2004, so I am a little fuzzy on the details.

The Crack is the SECOND slot entering on the right. DO NOT go up the first slot.... it sucks, you can get out that way but it takes a lot of effert and has some big exposure. A slip will be deadly.... if there is snow you will not get out at all using the first slot.
Also.... the mid exit will suffer from the same snow conditions as the lower exits, if you can get out the mid you can get out the Crack.
If you want a good map and waypoints go with the pros's

Whoops. Shane's right, it's the second canyon on the right. Like I said, memory's a bit fuzzy on it.

FWIW: The first slot on the right is commonly called the "False Exit". It looks really promising from the canyon bottom but getting over the rim cap sucks....

Commonly called? By whom?
You mean the slot I called "Partner Climb Exit". Good fun for the right team, in summer.

Definitely Utah, I put up with Colorado just to scratch out a living. I make the 8 hour drive at least 3 times a year, 2-3 week stays for the past 20 years. If Utah suddenly went away there would not be enough Prozac to make life worth living. Sorry for the confusion, I guess I assumed if you lived in "Gods country" you knew where I was talking about. I am curious though, does my attitude and number of visits allow me "semi-native " status? javascript:emoticon(':roflol:')

It depends, how do you pronounce Utah
1. UUUuuuutah?
2. or Yuta?
The answer qualifies you as Utahn.
Also, I am surprised you are not aware of this fact yet, Utah is the number 1 in Prozac consumption in the nation. We love our Prozac down here.
So if Utah went away, the Prozac manufacturer would lose money! :nono:

I am going to pick door number 2, Yuta. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the Prozac numbers are probably heavily weighted to the North end of the state. South of I-70 is where I am the happiest.

called "Partner Climb Exit".
Sorry.... I meant to say "all the cool guys call it the False Exit". :roflol:
:2thumbs:
Oh hell, I am Russian so I have no idea on the right answer to my own question, so I guess you pass.
On the second correction, you are absolutely right. The happy valley up here has Prozac booths at the grocery stores. :naughty:

I think even Russians can enjoy Southern Utah, just stay away from the happy pill booths. BTW, nice job on the hawk rescue. Always had a soft spot for the Raptors. Very majestic birds.
Thanks, it changed my mind about the birds.
I notice every one in the sky now.
