OK.
If you pick any 2-digit number and subtract the sum of the digits from it, you get a multiple of 9. On the screen shown, the same symbol is shown for multiples of 9.
In other words:
A 2-digit number XY has the value 10X + Y (e.g. 86 = 80 + 6). Subtract the sun of the digits and you get:
(10X + Y) - (X + Y) = 10X + Y - X - Y
= 9X
or 9 times the first digit. Every ninth symbol on the chart is identical.
