I am getting into the world of triathlons and hoping sometime this year or next to actually compete in an Ironman. I have a bike, but not a triathlon bike, I would like to get my hands on a tri-bike and see how much of a difference it makes.

I dont know if the sizing is different for tri-bikes but I ride a 16.5" mtn bike.

Yep, TT bikes are measured in cm. From what I remember of you, you'd be between a 56 and 58, I'd bet. Best thing though, is to go to a tri-shop or a nice bike shop and try a few out. The fit on a time trial bike is very uncomfortable at first, and really needs to be customized by a professional.

Of course, I couldn't afford a TT bike for the triathlons I've done, so I just use my road bike with aero-bars. Might be an option worth considering.

I work at Biker's Edge in Kaysville and have a Cannondale Six13 Slice from '07 left over at a killer price. I'm 6'0'' and ride a 56cm in most bikes, I can ride a 58cm in some brands that run small. I ride a Large mountain bike or 19', so you would probably be between a 52 and 54 depending on the brand. We also do professional body scanning and bike fitting there. You should check it out. Where are you from?
