At one time I started to write a book on all known Utah Flash Flood death's so I have varying amounts of information scatter on my hard drive. But here is the short version.... Since 1950 (when death by Flash Flood became a specific statistic) Kane County has had only two officially reported Flash Flood death's, neither was in Buckskin/Paria.

September 17, 1961
At Wahweap Creek near Glen Canyon City a 9-year-old girl drowned in a flash flood.

September 5, 1998
A flash flood in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area's Ice Cream Canyon swept away and drowned a 10-year-old girl. She was standing on the side of the canyon observing the flash flood in the canyon below when the side gave way and she fell in.

What story am I think of where a young girl could not hold onto a rope and fell and died. I think the family and friends were in a slot canyon and everyone else made it to a safe place but her. It was posted in one of the groups in the last couple of years?
