I'm looking to dive into the digital SLR market. Looking for some info from anyone who has one. Likes & dislikes and the such. Thanks for your input. :2thumbs:

I have a D80. It is pretty light and has been up many miles of trail this last year. I did pick up a leatherette case for it. I think Nikon stayed awake nights trying to design the least useful case possible but it has protected the camera well. The only negative I have is that it will not meter with non AF lenses. No real complaints other than that on the camera-I knew about the lens issue before I bought the camera so I wasn't surprised. Mostly I shoot the 18-70 lens but sometimes carry the 70-300 VR.

I have a D80 and have been very happy with it. There are quite a few "deals" out there on the D80's (and D200) since the D300 has come out.

Check out a few of these web sites for D80 info and also check out their "for sale" forums:

I just picked up a D300, but will probably keep the D80 as well.

Since the earlier post mentioned it....for camera cases and lens cases check out http://www.kinesisgear.com They are a local UT company that makes all sorts of camera and lens cases. Basically can get a case to fit any camera/lens combo...included big 300-500mm lens. Really nice stuff. Most of the big camera backpacks are heavy and are not comfortable for extended hikes. I just use one of my favorite packs and pack all my camera gear in the Kinesis bags. Works out great...my $.02's

Good luck!

Is it just me, or is that fish REALLY frowning?

Well...lucky for that rainbow, we had caught our fill of Sockeye Salmon on that day...so he was shortly released to swim another day.
