water in abundance ! kinda important fro extended desert backpacks. and beautiful ! also, halls mesa loop road has been graded, now a nice passneger vehicle road.

i pugt in at the airstrip to shave a few miles off. not too bad, steep, gotta pick your way down the benches after going straight down teh chute for a bit.

LOVED this area !

very nice albums, goofball :2thumbs:

i love that area, too. superlative place for exploration and "losing oneself." i try to hit it every so many years. one can easily while weeks away there.

i really liked lower halls creek south of the grand gulch. it smooths out a littlte more and wandering up the waterpocket fold, while still strenuous, is much easier it seemed. tried to get up top to peek into the stevens complex, but shadows got long and legs got weak.

that grotto in happy dog was about the most beautiful place i have seen. the pics do not even come close to doing it justice. hanging gardens and dripping seeps and reeds and a shallow pool w/ that sweeping undercut leaving only a sliver of sky... it was as peaceful a place as ever i could imagine. heres to "losing oneself"
